Product Details

This book compiles traditional Hohenloe recipes that have beemn trialled and tested by Carol Woodhouse and Karl Heinz. Amongst the fantastic recipes is a look back on the history of the Pork Butchers who emigrated from Hohenloher as pork butchers to the UK.

With the recipes come the family stories which in themselves paint a picture of the lives of these ordinary folk - young men, wives, sisters - who left their farms for a life in a foreign country. Some came as apprentices, others already master pork butchers estabished businesses in London and the more Northern cities of Hull, Derby, Sheffield, Wakefield, Liverpool, Middlesbrough and Newcastle.

This book is the hard work of Karl-Heinz Wűstner in Germany and Carol Woodhouse in England who recast these traditional recipes in metric for smaller 21st century families.

From traditional homemade liver sausage to Gugelhopf (sweet German bread) to a classic Apple strudel. This is classic homecooking with a mix of the English/German flavours.
